Hi,
It is my pleasure to announce the winners of the Tony Garret and the
Peter Darling Award for 2007, Jeff Bowles and Filippo Rossi.
Jeff Bowles, Computer Science, wrote an outstanding report on Fixing,
Maintaining and Upgrading Activeboard, a php-based message board
application developed by Sparklit Inc., a small local company where
Jeff spent a work term in 2007. Jeff will be graduating in June and
is now employed with Sparklit on a full-time basis. He was nominated
for this award by Dr. Dale Olesky.
Fil Rossi was nominated for his report entitled: Massively Parallel
Two Dimensional TLM Algorithm on a Graphics Processing Unit by Dr.
Poman So. Fil spent his work term as a Research Assistant in the ECE
Department. Fil be also graduate in June and is looking forward to
continuing in the department as a graduate student.
The Awards will be presented by the Dean of Engineering, Dr. D.
Michael Miller prior to the ESS AGM on
Wednesday, May 14, 1:30 pm, ELW Lobby.
Please join us in congratulating Jeff and Fil for their outstanding
effort. The Dean has kindly agreed to sponsor each Award with a cash
prize of $250.
