you may have been seeing the bcnet broadband innovation challenge messages floating around these days. bcnet staff member will come to uvic this tuesday (january 20) and give an information session 2:30pm in ecs660 (the announcement has been sent to enannounce last week, but you know, not all of our students have a chance to check their email yet 😉
so we will really appreciate if you can mention this information session to your student this monday or tuesday before your lecture starts (for your convenience, a ppt/pdf slide is attached to this message). since this contest is about network applications, it’s open to everyone in computer science and software engineering with an application running on the network (nowadays, it’s not easy to find one not doing so)
faculty members are also encouraged to be present to show our support to our students, as well as volunteering to be mentors (since this is about applications, mentoring is not limited to networking faculty at all)
