The risk of google citation: full text indexing tools make us more efficient but also some lazier—citing without actually reading the entire paper. Some lawyers, maybe not well trained in school, make such mistakes too, sometimes exactly on the opposite in semantics ;-) So there are no real shortcuts in research and mental exercises

Highly recommended although in Chinese only. Doing a phd is just like to take a neurosurgery without opening the skull to increase the mental capacity (how to identify and solve problems and present and get published and recognized, just like selling oneself on the job market ;-) just in information and communication technologies, there is also a huge demand from both academia and industry for high quality phd, due to the high competition around the world ;-)

From a middle school classmate—still don’t know how to play harmonica but learned a hard lesson for life: no shortcut in learning at all ;-)

“口琴课每年都要考试,考试是按小组进行,一个小组三四个同学一起吹。初三那年,有次老师上课无意中点到潘建平同学吹口琴,孰不知潘同学连口琴都拿反了,再一试,全然不会,这一惊非同小可,音乐课环环相扣,时间非常紧张,记得老师拿出了宝贵的好几分钟垂询潘同学,原来他口琴考试时只是把口琴放在嘴上,并不吹出声音,和其他同学一样左右移动,是以回回考试合格,张老师自诩明察秋毫,耳朵里不容错音(不是老师的错,因为潘同学不出声音),却不料班上出了当代南郭,谱写了常中新寓言,接下来每课必抽潘同学吹口琴。初三面临中考,大家中午全身心埋头做作业,就连龚苏飞同学也不吹口琴了,而此时在张老师的鞭策下,潘同学每天中午抽时间苦练口琴,教室里孤零零地回荡着他不成曲调的琴声,潘同学十分聪明,是班上的数学课代表,经过一段时间的苦练,也得到了老师的首肯。”
