Re: for your amusement

sorry, but i cannot agree to your opinion. i think we/uvic have at least two things to do (in addition to establishing the fact that whether nate has a doctoral degree—done and academic appointment from/at uvic)

+ educate our students that claiming or trying to claim something does not belong to us is a really bad thing, and one cannot get away from the truth forever. academic integrity is the lifeline of a university/person

+ undo the damage by this false claim (at least on the doctoral degree). http://www.wurldtech.com/corporate/management_team.php now has a new bio, but everything is still there other than this page, e.g.,

http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cache:jNc0C_CmJnsJ:www.wurldtech.com/corporate/management_team.php

and his new bio is even more alarming: “As the creator of the Achilles testing technology and Certification program, Kubes research efforts have been heavily funded by Canadian, American, and International Government agencies.” we are yet to know how much the false uvic degree and possibly academic position gave him or his company personal and financial advantage especially from canandian governments where we get funding from as well! if we found out the fraud and do not act properly, we will become liable (i am not a lawyer, but as a principle, if someone abused my name, i will fight to the maximum allowed by law). the same thing for uvic’s reputation

nate is a popular guy, and i believe he’s smart as well. if you google “nate kube”, you can see more than 1,000 entries, so the damage of the false degree and potentially the false position is far reaching (if he really had a doctoral degree from uvic, i think we should nominate him for the outstanding uvic alumni award 😉

only these two things can ensure such things will not happen again (it is already astonishing that this thing could ever happen to uvic), otherwise, we give every one of our students an excuse to abuse, at least once

since your opinion will potentially affect all engineering faculty and the way we supervise our students, i am copying to to the engineering faculty mailing list as well. i think we need a wider discussion. thanks
